EdTech Startup to Scale AI Tutor for School and Competitive Exam Students Across India

Bengaluru-based EdTech startup YoLearn.ai has raised $500,000 in a pre-seed funding round at a valuation of $5 million. The round was co-led by DataAlpha.ai and White Swan Global, with participation from a group of angel investors.

The fresh capital will be used to strengthen the company’s artificial intelligence-powered tutoring platform, expand its voice-first learning products, and accelerate its reach across India’s school education and competitive exam ecosystem.

Founded in January 2025 by Kirti Prakash Mishra, YoLearn.ai is building a voice-first AI tutoring platform that combines real-time conversations with interactive visual learning. The startup aims to recreate the experience of learning from a classroom teacher by enabling students to interact with an AI tutor through natural voice conversations.

The funding comes as demand for AI-powered personalized education continues to rise across India, particularly among students preparing for board examinations and competitive entrance tests.

How Will YoLearn.ai Use the Fresh Capital?

According to the company, the newly raised funds will primarily support the expansion of its AI tutoring technology.

A significant portion of the investment will be directed toward enhancing its voice-first audiovisual tutor, which enables students to interact naturally while solving problems using a live digital sketchpad.

The startup also plans to strengthen product development and expand distribution across India’s school education ecosystem as well as competitive examination segments.

By investing in both technology and market expansion, YoLearn.ai aims to reach a larger student base while improving the learning experience through artificial intelligence.

What Makes YoLearn.ai Different?

Unlike traditional online learning platforms that rely mainly on recorded video lessons or text-based chatbots, YoLearn.ai focuses on voice-first learning.

Its AI tutor allows students to ask questions in real time while the system explains concepts aloud, much like a classroom teacher.

A key feature of the platform is its interactive sketchpad, which enables the AI tutor to draw diagrams, solve equations, illustrate concepts, and visually demonstrate problem-solving techniques while simultaneously providing spoken explanations.

The company says this approach closely replicates the experience of learning from a teacher standing in front of a whiteboard.

The platform also adapts explanations based on each student’s learning pace, preferred language, and identified knowledge gaps, creating a more personalized educational experience.

Focus on Board Exams and Competitive Tests

Although YoLearn.ai serves students across K-12 education, its strongest adoption has been among students in Grades 9 to 12.

This segment typically prepares simultaneously for board examinations and competitive entrance tests such as JEE, NEET, and CUET.

According to the company, its content has been mapped with 100% syllabus accuracy across NCERT, CBSE, ICSE, and various state board curricula.

By combining school syllabus coverage with competitive exam preparation, the platform aims to simplify learning for students facing multiple academic challenges.

The company believes AI-powered personalized tutoring can significantly improve concept clarity while helping students prepare more efficiently.

Multilingual AI Tutors and Growing User Base

One of YoLearn.ai’s distinguishing features is its multilingual capability.

The platform currently supports voice interactions in 22 Indian languages, including Hindi and Hinglish, making AI-assisted education accessible to students from diverse linguistic backgrounds.

In addition, the startup offers AI tutor personas modeled on the teaching styles of popular educators. Schools partnering with the platform can also create AI Avatar versions of their own teachers, allowing students to continue learning through familiar teaching styles outside the classroom.

YoLearn.ai is available through its web platform as well as native mobile applications on Android and iOS under the brand YoTutor.ai.

Across all platforms, the company has already crossed 200,000 cumulative users, demonstrating strong early traction within India’s rapidly growing AI education market.

Competition and Growth Outlook

The Indian AI-powered education sector has become increasingly competitive as startups leverage generative AI to deliver personalized learning experiences.

YoLearn.ai competes with emerging players such as SiglQ.AI, Fermi.AI, Arivihan.AI, CK-12, MagicSchool.AI, and Lytmus.AI, each focusing on different aspects of AI-enabled education.

However, the company believes its voice-first interface, interactive sketchpad technology, multilingual support, and personalized tutoring capabilities provide meaningful differentiation in the market.

With fresh funding, expanding product capabilities, and a rapidly growing user base, YoLearn.ai is positioning itself to capitalize on India’s increasing adoption of AI-powered education solutions.

As artificial intelligence continues transforming the learning experience, startups like YoLearn.ai are helping reshape how millions of students prepare for school and competitive examinations by making personalized tutoring more interactive, accessible, and scalable.
