Fintech unicorn Navi has raised $100 million from global investment firm Prosus in its first institutional funding round, marking a significant capital infusion for the Sachin Bansal led financial services company ahead of its potential initial public offering (IPO).
The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, including clearance from the Competition Commission of India (CCI). While Navi has not disclosed the valuation attached to the transaction, an Economic Times report has pegged the company’s valuation at around $1.3 billion.
Prosus Backs Navi’s Digital-First Financial Services Model
Prosus said Navi’s large customer base, diversified financial services portfolio, technology-led approach and focus on consumer experience were among the factors behind its investment.
The investment also comes at a time when Navi has been expanding its presence across multiple financial services categories while focusing on improving operational efficiency. Prosus noted that the company has continued to execute well over the past year despite challenging macroeconomic conditions.
The latest funding marks an important shift for Navi, which has largely been built with promoter capital since its inception. The company had previously been seeking external capital at a valuation of around $2 billion, according to media reports.
Sachin Bansal’s Navi Expands Beyond Lending
Founded by Flipkart co-founder Sachin Bansal, Navi has developed into a diversified fintech platform offering lending, insurance, mutual funds and UPI payments.
Its lending business operates through Navi Finserv, while Navi Technologies houses several of its consumer-facing financial services. The company has also expanded its insurance portfolio, launching motor insurance in March 2026.
In February 2025, Navi appointed Rajiv Naresh as CEO of Navi Technologies and Abhishek Dwivedi as CEO of Navi Finserv. Bansal subsequently moved into the role of Executive Chairman of the Navi Group.
The leadership transition was aimed at strengthening the company’s operating structure as Navi scales its different financial services businesses.
Navi’s IPO Plans Gain Momentum
Prosus’ investment comes just months before Navi is expected to pursue a potential public listing. The company has reportedly been preparing for an IPO that could target a valuation of around $2 billion.
The fresh institutional backing could strengthen Navi’s position as it prepares for the next stage of its growth and potentially enters the public markets.
For Navi, the funding also comes after a period of regulatory challenges in its lending business. In October 2024, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) temporarily restricted Navi Finserv from sanctioning and disbursing new loans over compliance-related concerns. The restrictions were lifted in December 2024 after the company addressed the regulator’s concerns.
UPI and Lending Businesses Continue to Scale
Despite these challenges, Navi has continued to expand its digital financial services footprint.
During FY26, Navi UPI remained India’s fourth-largest UPI application by transaction volume. According to NPCI data, the platform held around 4% market share by transaction volume in July 2026.
Meanwhile, Navi Finserv’s assets under management crossed Rs 13,000 crore during FY26, highlighting the scale of its lending operations.
Navi has also been working towards improving the economics of its businesses by increasing operating leverage and strengthening its overall financial performance.
Revenue Grows While Losses Remain High
Navi reported revenue from operations of Rs 2,982 crore in FY26, representing a 16% year-on-year increase. However, the company continued to report a consolidated net loss of Rs 466 crore during the fiscal year.
The company has indicated that its financial performance improved towards the end of the fiscal year. Navi achieved consolidated profitability in the fourth quarter of FY26, which it attributed to improving unit economics and operating leverage.
The contrasting annual and quarterly performance highlights the company’s ongoing transition towards profitability as it scales its financial services ecosystem.
Building an Integrated Financial Platform
Navi’s strategy revolves around bringing multiple financial products under a single digital-first platform. Its offerings currently span personal and other loans, insurance, mutual funds and UPI payments.
The company says it has built a large customer base across India and aims to make financial services more accessible through technology-driven products.
The $100 million investment from Prosus therefore comes at a crucial stage in Navi’s growth journey. With a diversified product portfolio, expanding lending operations and a potential IPO on the horizon, the company is now entering a phase where scaling sustainably and improving profitability will remain key priorities.
For Prosus, the investment provides exposure to India’s rapidly expanding digital financial services market through a fintech platform that has already built significant scale. For Navi, the funding adds institutional backing as it prepares for its next phase of expansion and potentially its transition into the public markets.
